OUR STORY
Art 4 Fun was founded on the idea that there's an opportunity for creativity everywhere, if you know where to look. Pottery has always been at the core of owners Ria and David Berger's relationship, providing a foundation as malleable as clay (though far less fragile). In fact, David and Ria's very first date was at a ceramic painting cafe in Laguna Beach, California in 1995.
Two years later, they moved to London and opened their own painting cafe based on the idea "What do you give someone who's got everything?", complete with house-decorated ceramics—the first of its kind in England.
Over the years, they opened a pottery factory in Chiswick and a warehouse in Stoke-on-Trent, carrying on the historic city's ceramic lineage. Decades of
hosting parties, team-building events, date nights, and the like have cemented Art 4 Fun as a centre of entertainment in North London.
The West Hampstead location you can visit today has remained open since 1998, hosting generations of young artists. Some who were kids back in our early days now bring in their own children, and we're always delighted when they show us the ceramics they made some 20 years ago, still in use.
Speaking of generations, that through-line extends to the family business as well; David still runs the store, and their daughter Zoe works there now too.
No matter whether you're a long-timer or a first-timer, we're honored and delighted to share the story we're shaping with you.
